Today I woke up with the sun pouring through my window. Not a bad way to start the day. I am beginning to think that maybe I did bring over the London sun! Not the warmth that goes with it but the positive rays it brings out. I say not the warmth because it is a lot colder here then I expected. I really think I might have to go out and buy gloves today! We shall see though. Maybe I will just grin and bear it as the cold spell might be over sooner then I think. One of my many Australian connections told me before I left that it can get up to 30 already in September!
Yesterday I ended up sleeping most of the day. I figured I deserved it after my not so pleasant flights. Thank goodness I got aisle row on both flights but even so there was something about the second leg that was just uncomfortable. Also I was kind of surprised how much smaller the second plane was then my first. I would have figured the other way round but hey. With all my delays I ended up getting in to Melbourne at 5:30AM yesterday not 10PM on Tuesday as I was meant to. This meant I did not have a full nights sleep as I had hoped to. Today though I have had a mostly full nights sleep and plan to start exploring!
The house I am staying in till I get my own place sorted out is incredible. A beautiful 1920's set up with elegant modern taste inside. Also my hostess's are very welcoming and feeding me up on lots of healthy ingredients. For example as I write this I am having a bowl of cous cous with avocado bits and a cucumber and celery smoothie for breakfast. Later I will take a shower and then hop on the train to the city centre! I will be heading over to a bookstore in town called Readings. About 4 individuals have suggested this place to look for a place to live. Apparently their billboard is a great starting off point!
Tonight my hostess's and I will be going to see an art installation in town. It has been getting rave reviews. It will be my first real slice of Melbourne's reputable art scene and I can't wait!
