The last couple of days have been a huge mix of sweet and sour rolled together to make a very interesting pie.
Unfortunately it appears I did not get the room I desired. Never have been able to get in touch with them so I can only guess they have gone with somebody else. This is why one must never get their hopes up! The good news is that Readings updates their message board tomorrow night with a whole new fresh batch of listings. I will attack it head on and make lots and lots of appointments for the weekend. I am an eternal optimist. I think now that I have seen a range of places I really have an idea of what I am after. I really want to lay my head down in the areas I keep mentioning. Just because this first round of viewings was not successful does not mean that I don't want to avoid that area. If anything it will push me harder to get there. Also I have come to realise that I really do not need a big room at all. Considering I came over to Ausralia on 22kg I really have next to no possessions out here. I will of course aquire some whilst I am out here as I always do. I am my mothers daughter. A hoarder. So yes I start this second round of house hunting with strong desires and wants.
On more positive notes the chocolate cake I had last night was delicious. It is the kind of cake that has just the right kind of chocolatey kick I love. Not too much that it is sickly but just enough to excite me. This afternoon I was given a free front row ticket to a play at the MTC (Melbourne Theatre Company). Who gave me such a grand gift you ask? That would be my new friend Georgia that I met through my hostess daughter. They are childhood best friends. She is a film maker who actually studied in Linköping for 6 months! She was thrilled to hear I was Swedish. Any ways she arranged for me to get the free ticket. The show was called The Man From Mukinupin. It is a classic Australian play apparently. The production I saw today was superbly directed, brilliantly acted and all and all was an excellent first introduction to the Melbourne theatre scene. Also I was interested to learn that a few of the actors were of aboriginal descent.
The last couple of days it has gotten quite cold. I would compare it to London in November. Wet and windy.
