My great Australian adventure did not start off on the best foot! Whilst waiting at the web check-in at Gatwick a funny old man in front of me cracked a joke about our 5 1/2 hour delayed flight. It was not till I got up to the counter that I realised this man spoke the truth. And what an ugly truth it was! Thankfully there was a girl behind me who looked about my age who I befriended and proceeded to hang out with all afternoon. We also met a lovely Australian mother and daughter on the same flight. Honestly meeting the three of them made the delay go a lot faster then it would have otherwise.

I am now writing you from Dubai Airport at a Paul cafe having a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice and a pastry with the mother and daughter. Waiting for my connecting flight which will be getting me in to Melbourne early Wednesday morning. Not exactly a nights sleep in a bed but also not having to stay at a hotel in Dubai.
