Do you like me to start off with the good news or the bad news? And when I say bad news its not the worst news. Its more frustration on the news front then bad. I was meant to be looking at some apartments tonight in areas that I really like. Unfortunately they were evening appointments so was navigating in the dark (street lamps in Melbourne are kind of shabby!), wet, wet rain. I finally decided to treat myself to a cab to get there and the effin cab driver took me the wrong place. I was once again completely lost. Once I figured out where I was I realized there was no way I would make it to my appointments in time. We have rescheduled for the weekend.
I have since come home and had a big hot bowl of tomato soup, tortilla to dip with and hot tea. Now I am on to my second cup of tea and treating myself to some chocolate.
I am very much looking forward to crawling under my duvet later and reading my book. My hostess has a fairly good library for me to pick through. I finished an Irish book the other day called The Memory Stones by Kate O'Riordan. Quite an intense and scary book at times. I have now picked up a collection of short stories that Haruki Murakami wrote a few years ago called Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman. I read Norwegian Wood last year which I enjoyed and so far this collection is just as good.
Speaking of good I think its time I tell you my good news! First things first today I set up my Australian bank account. Man was it easy! I think it took me 15 minutes tops to do? I will have a MC debit card and online banking all things I need whilst I am out here. Also as far as I can tell the bank I went with has branches ALL around the country. This is important because Australia adheres to the if its not your bank we charge you BS. I hate that. We really are spoiled in Europe! After I set up my bank account I went for a job interview! Nothing riveting but a job interview is a job interview! It was with a temp agency. I have learned over the years signing up with temp agencies to never get excited till they get you work. They are very good at getting you excited in interviews that they will find you work and then never do. As a lot of you know I was signed up with 5 or 6 last year in London and only ONE got me work consistently. The other ones were useless. So yes glad I had the interview but like I said won't count my chickens till the eggs hatch and all that!
Alright today really wiped me out so I am going to get to that reading and duvet diving!
